Is Food Good or Evil?

Today as I was doing my devotions and I saw how God chooses to use broken, angry, frustrated, and even deceptive people to carry out his mission. I don’t know about you, but this gives me peace for a couple of reasons. One, I am far from perfect ;-). If God only cared and used perfect people, I would be in a world of hurt. Two, God is in control. God won’t forsake those who pursue him, one day He will judge with righteousness. This means I DON’T need to worry about getting even or mistreated by others. That is God’s...

Stop Falling For The Lies!!!

Would you like to accelerate your weight loss results? Do you feel like you are stuck in heavy traffic unable to move? The truth of the matter, on almost any weight loss journey, you will meet plateaus, obstacles, hardships, and likely even criticisms. Now, what I am about to say are some hard truths that very few trainers will admit. You will need to embrace sacrifice to lose weight and get the results you so desperately desire. You will need to be honest with yourself when it comes to how much you are eating. You will need...

Are People Stopping You From Reaching Your Weight Loss and Fitness Goals?

Yesterday we talked about fear and how it can hold you back from even starting on your weight loss journey. Today, I would like to talk about the, “fear of man” and how it can really slow down your weight loss and fitness progress. I imagine some of you know what I mean when I say “fear of man,” but fear of man refers to allowing others to influence and determine what you do or say, against what you want or know to be right...

Does Fear Control Your Fitness Journey?

Why are you afraid? First off, before we dive into the topic of fear. I would like to say that fear is a God given emotion. In certain situations, fear is a natural emotion. If my kids didn’t fear heights, there would be lots of broken bones, lol. However, so often we let fear hold us back in a way it was not designed to do. I see this expressed in the, “Fear of failure” syndrome that holds many people back in regards to their fitness journey. All to often, people know what they should do, eat right and exercise. A lot...

Different Day Same Cra…..

Do you repeatedly make the same mistakes? Do you have someone to keep you accountable? Do you have a plan to be accountable too? Remember when I told you the story of Abraham running off to Egypt to avoid the famine and having his wife Sarah lie and tell everyone she was his sister so they wouldn’t kill him to get to her? Do you also remember it didn’t end well? Well guess what? Abraham made the exact same mistake again. He was going into a new land and told Sarah, “You need to tell everyone you are my sister so they...

Are YOU the problem?

Do you believe you can? This may be the single most important part of any fitness journey. I would guesstimate that 98% of people fail before they even start ;-(. For you to be highly successful, You Must Believe You CAN! I train an awesome, highly motivated client named Dee who lost over 50 lbs since last January. I am paraphrasing Dee, but this was her thought. Dee knew I could help her, she also knew that the best training and coaching in the world would not make any difference unless she believed she could do it. Dee knew she had to be...

Do You Ever Need Help?

Do you ever get in over your head and need someone to bale you out? I know I do at times. My eyes and mind get greedy and I bite off more than I can chew (often times literally lol)! I remember when I played Football in college as a Left Offensive Tackle. I had to block a D-end named JJ, he was an All-American and I knew I would have my hands full. So what did I do? I buttered up the Left Guard Will Degan and asked him to help me out. It was a great decision too!...

Do you cling to foods that are hurting your fitness goals?

Are you struggling with separation issues :-)? Are you clinging to foods that are hurting your fitness goals? If so, you need to get rid of them. By far the easiest way to make sure you don’t eat something is to make it difficult to access. Think about it, if you have a bowl of M&Ms sitting in front of you, you are going to eat more M&M’s then if you had to go buy them at store. To illustrate this point, that sometimes it is wise to break up. I am going to tell about how Abram and Lot...

I WAS Terrified!!!

Is the fear of the unknown holding you back? Does the fear of the unknown paralyze you and keep you stuck in a rut? When I was 8 my parents came to my brother and I told us that we were going to be missionaries in a foreign country (that foreign country ended up being Brazil). My parents were super excited and eager to go...

Spilled Coffee On My Chromebook!!!

Do you get frustrated and confused? I do, and I find it extremely annoying! Point in case, the other day I spilled coffee on my Chromebook I thought I reacted quickly enough to save it, but alas I did not What made this experience even more frustrating is that I then had to use my wife’s Chromebook and it is slow, doesn’t hook up to the internet quickly, it short it is not my Chromebook and it sucks!  I don’t speak its language. Then I decided to take it to Best Buy, but guess what? They don’t speak my language either,...

Are You Sabotaging Yourself?

A couple quick question. Are you sabotaging yourself and cheating yourself from acquiring your fitness goals?  Are you giving your best? How is our attitude? So often when it comes to physical fitness we sabotage ourselves by only giving 70% - 80% effort. If you are a formal athlete you are likely thinking, “No! I give 100% every time I step into the gym! Shut your mouth!” My gentle rebuttal would be, “What are you eating on a consistent basis?” Chances are you need to shut your mouth, lol. I know this because it describes me…;-). In my experience, former athletes...
