Some perspective from a weight loss client named Dee.
I got this note from an epic client named Dee. Dee has always been into working out and being fit and at one point in her life she got down to 15% body fat. Then she got a “great” job and was super busy, she slowly over time gained some weight. Then one day she woke up and decided she was sick of it and proceeded to lose 50 lbs and get back to her ideal self.
With Dee’s back story in mind this is the note she sent me.
“I heard this song ‘Slow Fade’ by Casting Crowns on my way home from
working out with you and it struck me when they song, ‘People don’t
crumble in a day, families don’t crumble in a day’ and I related it to
our fitness journey, both physically and emotionally. Sometimes a cruel remark can
crumble us, or even a stair can make us feel self-conscious. But one bad
day doesn’t bring down the house! Stay committed, listen to the
positives, not the negatives and of course, be mindful of how we talk
to others who aren’t ‘perfect’.”
The truth of the matter is none of us are perfect and we will have bad workout days, bad eating days, and oftentimes both on the same day, lol. The secret to long term success is learning from those days, shrugging them off and moving on. Don’t let them define you and don’t let those bad days become habit. If you consistently make good choices you won’t “fade away.”
The lyrics to the song below:
Be careful little eyes what you see
It’s the second glance that ties your hands
As darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it’s the little feet behind you that are sure to follow
It’s a slow fade when you give yourself away
It’s a slow fade when black and white are turned to gray
And thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
It’s a slow fade, it’s a slow fade
Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattering leads to compromises, the end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises leave broken hearts astray
It’s a slow fade when you give yourself away
It’s a slow fade when black and white are turned to gray
And thoughts…
The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you’re thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinking
It’s a slow fade when you give yourself away
It’s a slow fade when black and white are turned to gray
And thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day
Oh, be careful little eyes what you see
Ge be awesome!
Kellen Lake – You won’t crumble because of one bad day ;-).
