What is something you have also dreamed of…?

The good news is Florence has largely passed. The bad news is many people are left without a home, power, vehicles…the list could go on. On a small note, my basement flooded, could have been a lot worse.

This should remind us that life is short. So, what is something that you have dreamed of doing for a long time? Have you planned for it? Are you taking action on it? I personally have always dreamed of going to Europe. I have lived in North and South America as well as Asia, but have never been to Europe and I really want to go.

I have looked at trips numerous times (planning) but never pulled the trigger. Currently, I set aside a little bit of money (action) each month so that down the road, Beth (my amazing wife) and I can go.

What about you? What is your dream?

I used to want to be thin, when I was 308 lbs I hated the way I looked and felt at that weight. I wanted to be “normal” so bad, but my habits did not reflect my desire. Instead of eating less and tracking my calories, I would starve myself for a couple days and then binge. Which would make me feel guilty and the cycle would repeat it self.

If you can relate to this struggle and your dream is to be thinner I suggest you track your calories through the FREE app, MyfitnessPal (look for it in your app store) or if that seems to difficult, I suggest you eliminate or limit the amount of liquid calories you consume.

Believe it or not, but liquid calories are keeping America Fat. Our favorite form of sugary beverages are soft drinks and in the south that includes sweet tea.

A close second are the “dessert” coffees and specialty coffees. Those things average between 350 calorie to over 500 calories! That is a whole meal…assuming you get the small size. If you choose to make it a large you could be looking at over 1,000 calories in just one beverage…madness.

Third, energy drinks. For the most part these things are just soda with extra caffeine and “proprietary” blends of “energy.” One time when I lived in Brazil, I picked one up and read the ingredient list, instead of calories it read, “Energy” lol. In short, “Drink me! I will give you 500 units of ENERGY!” Please…don’t be fooled.

The cons of drinking your calories are simple.

  • High calories and calorie dense.
  • No chewing required, so not very filling.
  • Easily leads to being overweight or obese.
