Are You Wasting Your Life Away On Social Media And Not Having Enough Time To Exercise?

Well is looks like winter is well on its way, it got chilly this weekend and that inspired this weeks challenge.

Maybe the toughest challenge to date…

And you know what I noticed as it cooled down? I noticed that I and others “spent extra time” on social media. I think it probably had to do with not being as active and cooped up inside instead of out doing stuff. Maybe not, regardless, spending time on Facebook or other social media outlets on the whole does not burn a lot of calories nor does it help us get better booties and tighter tummy’s. In fact, the inverse is true :-(.

I want you to honestly answer this question, “In a typical day, how many times do you go to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter (I don’t even know how twitter works lol), etc.?

I did some digging…on Google and discovered, on average, we check our social media a total of 14 times a day. That is quite a bit and honestly I thought it was going to be much higher. But even if you are only on social media for 3 minutes each time that is still 42 minutes gone a day…never to return.

Plus, as I mentioned above, social media distracts and keeps us from experiencing what’s going on in right in front of us.

Now before you think I am all doom and gloom regarding social media I am not. Social media allows us to stay in touch with loved ones and friends all over the world, plus is can help motivate us in our weight loss and fitness journeys…but it can also be destructive at worst and disruptive at best.

  • It can negatively affect our work productivity.
  • It can cause dangerous situations while driving.
  • It can also negatively impact the way we see ourselves and compare ourselves to others.

So the challenge this week is to limit social media to just 3 times a day…at most. Bonus points if you can stay at or under 1 time a day.

Think you can do it? You never know until you try!

I suggest you schedule one in the morning, afternoon, and at night and check in only during those times.

My questamation is that this will create some extra free time for yourself. Are you always to busy and tired to do extra stuff? Now you won’t have an excuse. Just maybe, this habit could set you free ;-). Don’t believe me? Check out the stats I found on Google at http://mediakix.com/2016/12/how-much-time-is-spent-on-social-media-lifetime/#gs.Nu2CQjc

The average person spends X amount of time on various social media platforms:

  • YouTube, 40 minutes
  • Facebook, 35 minutes,
  • Snapchat, 25 minutes,
  • Instagram, 15 minutes
  • Twitter, 1 minute

Who is in? Reply and let me know :-).

Go be awesome!
