Spring Cleaning! So…exciting…;-)

Spring Cleaning! So….exciting…;-)

I don’t know about you, but my mom had a love hate relationship with cleaning. She claimed to hated cleaning, but she did it all the time…especially during the springtime. Which meant that I had clean. So this challenge is an “Ode to mom.”

As you might have guessed by now this weeks challenge is to do some spring cleaning!

I like to to break up things to small tasks that build onto each other….maybe you have noticed that? If I look at a giant project I often get overwhelmed and want to quit before I even start…especially if it is cleaning involved. To prevent that from happening I break up the tasks into smaller, bite sized tasks. That way once I complete one task, I feel successful and that motivates me to keep going.

This is week your challenge is to clean either your closets and/or your drawers ;-)! Lucky YOU!

Now is finally your chance to toss stuff that no longer fits, is outdated, you no longer wear, etc.

I did some research and I believe the, “5 pile method” will work best for most people…My self included ;-).

  1. Keep pile – Stuff that you wear often, goes here.
  2. Donate – Stuff you don’t wear, don’t want, no longer fits.
  3. Toss – Stuff that is stained, worn out, etc…
  4. Store – Stuff that is out of season (I personally don’t have this section, shorts 100% of the time, all the time ;-).
  5. Repair – stuff that needs a hem or maybe a button. If you are like me this will go into the toss pile…

Now all you have to do is sort through your stuff and put the items in one of the five piles.

Once you have your five piles get your “keep pile” and neatly organize into back into your closet or drawer.

Next, bag your donate clothes, put them into your car and next time you are out, run to Goodwill.

Next, toss your “toss pile.”

Next, store your seasonal stuff.

Next, start to mend and fix your “repair pile.”

The beauty of doing the above is chances are you will find clothes you had totally forgotten about and you totally love! Plus, getting rid of stuff you no longer use or need can actually be quite freeing and will lift your spirits ;-)!

So, are you in? Are you ready to start “Adulting” and clean up your closet and/or drawers?

Go ahead and share some “before” pictures if you dare ;-).

Now go be AWESOME!

KELLEN LAKE – I still hate cleaning, I guess just like mom.

PS – Does anyone actually like to clean?
