Happiness Jar Challenge

Happiness Jar

All right, so the challenge this week is to make what people call a, “happiness jar.” I’m not going to lie, I’m not a huge fan of the name of a happiness jar. It sounds a little lame and a bit to girly to be quite honest. But, I can’t think of anything else to call it so we’re going to call it a happiness jar.

This is how it works.

When something occurs that makes you happy and or gives you a feeling of gratitude you need to write it down and you put the piece of paper into the jar. Pretty simple right?

I kind of stumbled upon this idea because I used to have a journal/agenda where I documented my daily tasks so on and so forth. It was a great goal setting journal and every morning and every evening it would ask you to write down three things you were grateful for upon waking and before you went to sleep. What I noticed, is when I took time out of my day to highlight the things I was grateful for, I became more and more at peace. Thus, I think this is another way that I can keep the tradition going without having to buy another journal and this seems relatively inexpensive.

These moments don’t have to be anything ginormous they can be simple things that made you happy or grateful throughout the day. Any example might be, got to leave work 15 minutes early. Or hey my son said I love you. Who knows, the point is if you get happy or if you become grateful or filled with feelings of joy write it down on a  piece of paper and then stick it in your jar of happiness.

If you want to be super froo-froo about it you can even decorate your little happiness jar with all kinds of delightful little knick-knacks, stars, stickers, and what have you. Or a simple mason jar will do. The point is, document what makes you happy and put it in the jar.

How cool do you think it would be to look back a week, month, shoot years later and see what made you happy throughout your lifetime? My guess is it would be pretty cool.

Now go be awesome and happy 🙂
