Follow this challenge to feel fuller and have more energy!

The challenge this week is brought to you my two children, Axel and Kenna.

Ever since they were little we have always diluted their juice. No straight sugar for them! We thought we were so smart and health conscious…well it backfired!

And I know, I know, I should have stuck to my guns of…No liquid calories…but…alas…I did not ;-(.

Now my kids hate water ;-(! They will only drink something if it has a hint of juice. I know, I could just say no water mixed with juice for you, but then I would be dealing with screaming and thirsty toddlers. I just can’t win sometimes…BUT YOU CAN!

That is the good news, out of my ashes raises a great opportunity and challenge. This week I want you to drink the OPTIMAL about of water ;-)…without juice!

How much should you be drinking?

90% of you reading this should be drinking half of your body-weight in ounces. So, for example, I weigh about 210 lbs, that means I need about 105 ounces.

I can hear your thought already. “Why should I do this?”

I am so glad you asked. As you know our bodies are about 60% – 70% water. As such it is vital that our cells are hydrated for our daily functions such as digestion, powering our circulatory system, keeping us cool or warm, and so much more.

Staying hydrated also keeps our energy levels stay high. Have you ever gone on vacation and returned home and noticed your plants are dead and droopy? No, me either, I don’t do plants.

But…I assume they look wilted and “faded.” Or at least that is what Beth says ;-).  But once you water them, boom they jump back to life…I hope. Regardless, I think you get the point I am trying to make.

Having the optimal amount of water in your body helps you stay full, literally, it reduces the appearance of wrinkles, and makes your skin look younger and soft (now you all are motivated right, younger skin ;-).

On a side note: Do you crave sugar and carbs at night? 9 times out of 10 that is because you are dehydrated and not drinking enough water throughout your day. Not because you are hungry.

Here are some tips to make sure you are getting enough water.

  1. Flavor your water with lemon, mint, strawberries, etc…not juice!
  2. Drink a giant cup of water first thing in the AM.
  3. Carry a nice and cool looking water bottle around and make sure to use it…not as an accessory ;-).
  4. Drink throughout the entire day.

Alright, I will stop now.

Go be awesome!
