4 Tips To Still Drink Alcohol And LOSE Some Weight.

Well today’s topic will make you cry, the question is will it be tears of joy or tears of saddens lol.

I am going to tell you a little secret…most of my clients drink some alcohol. I personally hardly ever drink any calories (unless it is a milkshake), I just refer to chew to my calories. That being said, if you can’t go without your alcohol here are, four tips to drink alcohol and still lose SOME weight.

  1.  You will need to redefine what moderation means. Drinking in moderation means you don’t drink daily. If your really want to transform your body you will need to limit your drinking to the weekends…and on the weekends you can’t go crazy. In a perfect world you would limit your drinking to mostly Holidays and special occasions. It is impossible to binge drink and maintain a fitness lifestyle. I am sorry, but it’s the truth.
  2. Track and count ALL your calories and stay in a caloric deficit. Calories in and calories out, if you are in a caloric deficit you will still lose weight even if you are drinking alcohol. The problem is most people do not count ALL the calories in their beverages. For whatever reason they consider them “free.” They aren’t free, they are keeping you fat. What is the best alcoholic drink when you are dieting? NONE…or…the one with the least amount of calories 😉 like gin and soda water.
  3. Get adequate sleep…got to bed early! As I discussed a couple weeks ago. Inadequate sleep is terrible on your hormones that help control your appetite and metabolism. Which leads to drinking more and eating to much. Neither one is helpful when trying to lose fat. So, if you must drink, make sure you limit how much you will drink by getting to bed early and not letting your hormones get the better of you. 
  4. If you struggle saying no, don’t go! If you know you will cave and give into temptation don’t go. Change your social setting, by choosing a better location and friends who you know will support you. I won’t leave a chocolate donut in front of my kids and trust them with it. If you can’t trust yourself at Hang Out Y, don’t go. Maybe invite them to your place or someplace you can better control the flow so to speak.
  5. Don’t drink alcohol…lol…truthfully though if you goal is fat loss this is THE best advice! You have to eat fewer calories to lose weight and drinking alcohol makes his extremely difficult especially for females, right wrong or indifferent…because to lose weight the calories have to be so low anyway.

Now, all that being said, if you really can’t give up drinking just make sure you count the number of calories you are consuming and make sure you are in a caloric deficit. If you do that you will lose weight :-)!
