Weekly Challenge, Are You In?
Alright, this week’s challenge was inspired by own self imposed diet leading up to Christmas. I am only eating protein (meat) and produce (veggies). After 4 days I went from 230 to 221.8 and the magic is not in the meat and veggies. The magic is my calories are much lower. Why? Because, I cut out all the mainly empty carbs I was eating.
Any way, that is not the point of this challenge. The challenge this week is to enjoy your food, yep you read that right!
Often we eat as if this was the last time we would ever eat again. We barely even taste it. So, this week I want you to slow down and take time to taste and enjoy your food. I have been doing this on my little social experiment without even thinking about it, because I want the meal to last longer. As a result, I feel fuller faster and after eating less.
Also, stop eating while you are watching TV, talking on the phone, etc…in short, stop “multitasking.” ENJOY your food!
Take your time, thoroughly chew your food and enjoy it. There was a study that was published in the American Society for Nutrition and it stated that those who ate while distracted playing a video game (I believe the same could be said for being on a computer, watching TV, etc) didn’t even remember what they ate, plus they ate more snacks more often..which means more calories and bigger bellies, not good.
