4 Steps For Fitness and Weight Loss Success

These 4 Steps For Lasting Fitness and Weight Loss Success were inspired by a parable about a tree I read in the book of Matthew the other day.

I am going to paraphrase here, but basically it said, “Make tree good and its fruit will be good, make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad.” The implication being, “What kind of tree are you?”

In the parable, Jesus was saying that your good deeds meaning nothing if your heart is bad. You can be Mother Teresa and feed the orphans, which is a great thing, but if your heart is bad, it is like putting a band-aid on a compound fracture.

Any way, once a tree grows it can’t be changed or at least, I think that is true lol, I am not tree expert. But you and I aren’t trees ;-)! We can change! We can adapt and overcome our self defeating thoughts, behaviors, attitudes, and habits! The process on how to change is simple, but unlike what so many others will tell you, it is not easy, but SOOOO worth it!

First, you need to accept responsibility!  You need to be real with yourself and accept the fact that you have allowed your weight or fitness to get the better of you. Sure, there may have been numerous obstacles, situations, and struggles that made it difficult for you. But at the end of the day, you allowed it to happen…AND…You can change it ;-)!

Second, you need to listen!  You need to find someone (personal trainer, nutritionist, doctor, etc) to help you! Or you can find a book or program online to follow (if you are driven, dedicated, and disciplined).  Losing weight and getting fit is hard! You need a “voice” to listen to for guidance.

Third, you need to apply what you hear (learn).  This is where most good intentioned and even motivated people fail. They learn everything they need to do, but they fail to implement it ;-(. This is why it is so important to have someone (or thing) to listen too and guide you, caring accountability is sooo important!

Fourth, you need to schedule your workouts and track your eating. You must make the time to workout and you need to know what and how much you are eating. One of the reasons, my clients are successful is because they have a set schedule where they workout with me or Noah. They have accountability. Plus, I have my weight loss clients track what they eat and I can see it live and give daily feed back via the Just You Fitness App, extra accountability.

Now the questions become…What are you going to do? My advice?

Go be awesome!
