I love this quote. It really resonates with kind of how I have gone through life and my mentality when I approach hard tasks and difficult times. Instead of waiting for the perfect moment, or the perfect time and for everything to align. I take action. Granted at times this has gotten me into trouble. But what I’ve discovered is action generally trumps no-action. How many times in your live have you thought I’ll wait until A or Z happens or occurs or whatever only for nothing to change? If you’re like most people many times over.
The most common version of this that I hear often is the following. “I’m not in good enough shape to go see a trainer or to go to a gym. I need to wait till I look better, till I lose some weight before I go. I don’t want the other people at the gym or in the workout classes to see me and judge me. It’ll just make me feel worse. And if I feel worse I’m just going to eat more and then I’ll gain more weight and the cycle continues and continues and continues.”
It’s not that what you’re thinking or talking or saying to yourself doesn’t make sense. It does make sense, I wouldn’t want to go to a place like that and just feel bad about myself even though I’m trying my hardest to improve myself. I don’t think anybody would want that. But here’s the thing, if you don’t change what you’re doing nothing will change. Crazy concept I know. So instead of waiting for the perfect situation and circumstances to occur and waiting for the iron to get hot so to speak. Strike, take action, hit that iron with the hammer.
