Visualization Leads to Being Fit and Feeling Fabulous

Visualization Leads to Being Fit and Feeling Fabulous

Alrighty, so here we are, Mid-January I’m sure you’re just killing your New Year’s resolution : ) Right?

Truly hope you are. But so often when we create these goals, we just end up forgetting about him. There are a lot of reasons for this, one in my opinion is because generally speaking people won’t set a hard deadline and stick to it.  Another reason people forget is because they don’t visualize where they want to go.

Visualization works so well, most driven successful people innate do this in my opinion, plus it has been shown and proven time and time again to be extremely effective. So today we are talking about visualization….STOP ROLLING YOUR EYES : )

Visualization!

So there was a study done in Russia that’s madly famous. They created four groups of Olympic athletes and had them follow the guideline below.

Group A – 100% physical training, 0% mental exercises

All Group A did was hundred percent physically. That means there was no visualization. Think of this is a traditional practice you probably always did in high school and middle school. Very rarely would you ever sit down and think about what you were going to do and how it was going to impact you, and how it would make you feel. You just went out there, practiced. Did what coach told you and then went home and did your homework.

Group B – 75% physical training, 25% mental exercises

Group B on the other hand trained physically 75% of the time. But 25% of the time they worked on mental exercises. Which to me seems like it would be perfect.

Group C – 50% physical training, 50% mental exercises

Group C had a 50/50 split. 50% of the time They would train physically. The other 50% of the time they would train mentally. Once again, they would visualize what they were going to do, how they were going to do it, and how it would feel. As well as think about what the result would be.

Group D – 25% physical training, 75% mental exercises

Group D, the last group trained 25% of the time, and mentally prepared 75% of the time.

So what do you think the results were?

Now, I found this crazy! I think visualization is works, but I wouldn’t have guessed that Group D had the best results.

YES!

The group that devoted 75% of their training time to mental training outperform the other groups.

The study says, “The Soviets had discovered that mental images can act as prelude to muscular impulses.”

That’s pretty crazy right?! It isn’t just me is it?

What is Creative Visualization?

All right, creative visualization is different from daydreaming. That’s the first thing you need to understand :-). You just can’t sit there and think about eating all the ice cream you want and expect to get skinny :-). Although…if that was possible it would be immensely epic! Also, to be effective you need to create a visualization that is done in the first person in the present tense.

So basically you want to imagine a scenario that’s unfolding in the here and now. That’s different than daydreaming. Daydreaming is often in the third person, in the future tense. Also you want to add affirmations into your thinking patterns.

How Does It Work?

The philosophy behind why Visualization works is that basically you’re creating everything twice. First in the imagination, and then in the physical world.  To illustrate that point look at this excerpt from Napoleon Hill’s famous book, Think & Grow Rich:  The law of autosuggestion, through which any person may rise to altitudes of achievement which stagger the imagination, is well described in the following verse:

If you think you are beaten, you are,

If you think you dare not, you don’t

If you like to win, but you think you can’t,

It is almost certain you won’t.

“If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost

For out of the world we find,

Success begins with a fellow’s will—

It’s all in the state of mind.

“If you think you are outclassed, you are,

You’ve got to think high to rise,

You’ve got to be sure of yourself before

You can ever win a prize.

“Life’s battles don’t always go

To the stronger or faster man,

But soon or late the man who wins

Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN!

What the author is trying to emphasize is the deep meaning that somewhere inside of us we have a seed of achievement. And if this seed of achievement is awakened, aroused, and put into action it will carry you to amazing heights.

Here’s are two tips:

  • Create affirmation statements and visualize yourself achieving your goal.
    • Place these statements on your mirror on your car, your desk, wherever so that you will see them and be reminded and visualize yourself doing whatever it is you are trying to accomplish.
  • Create a vision board.
    • Find pictures about the goal you’re trying to accomplish and make a collage that you can see. In a perfect world, this should evoke an emotional response when you see it. It should inspire you to push and achieve more.

Hope that helps!

Go be awesome!

KELLEN LAKE – Visualizing you becoming even more awesome : )
