SOMETIMES IN LIFE YOU JUST NEED TO DIG DIRT and Struggle!

Many times on my fitness journey I have felt like giving up.

And if I were honest, it definitely feels like the struggle, the uphill battle feels like it outweighs the easy days. And the crazy part for you and I, is that we both know what we ought to do.

What we ought to do is never really in question. We know we ought to exercise consistently. We know we ought to make better health choices. We know we shouldn’t eat a ton of ice cream or pizza :-). In short, education really isn’t our problem.

Our Problem is Execution!

It’s the execution of our plan that is the major battle.

And that’s assuming that we even have a plan. Most people wake up live a reactionary life. They feel like a pin ball, being bounced here and there with no clear plan or path.

Here’s one thing that I’ve had to learn over the course of my 34 years on the Earth. It is this, spectacular results come from very unspectacular daily battles. People who get the best results, are the people who are persistent, regardless of the external pressures and struggles they are under.

Like I said above, some days you just need to dig dirt regardless of how you feel and what’s going on around you.

Some days even we don’t want to go to the gym, you just need to go and dig dirt. Even if you don’t feel like you’re being very productive. Sometimes you just need to get that chicken breast out of the freezer and ignore the frozen pizza that is next to it : ).  Sometimes you need to go to work so you can provide for your family.

This reminds me of the biblical character named Jacob who was a beast at struggling.

To give you a little background information on Jacob, when he was born,  he grassed his brothers heel (he wanted to be first from birth I guess lol), later he traded/swiped his brother’s birthright,  he even wrestled with God (not advisable) and because he was so persistent God even named him Israel, which means “God contended.” Now, I don’t want you to do the same things Jacob did….do not contend with God.

But, I would like you to have the same, “Never say die.” attitude as Jacob when it comes your fitness journey. If Jacob had given up, he would have missed out on some opportunity to overcome and do great things. It is better to engage in struggle, just like Jacob did.

So the challenge is, when you come up on a decision of what’s best and what’s easiest, choose the struggle that’s going to reward you with the result you’re after.

APPLICATION: FIGHT/STRUGGLE to do the best thing.

Go be awesome!
