Are YOU Ready for Fat Loss? Is it Time for a New Beginning?

FYI…it’s spring.

You all know what that means, it is a time of new beginnings. I don’t know about you, but I always get flashbacks of Bambi and his friends becoming “twitterpated”…falling in love. Any way, as the world wakes up from its long sleep-over with winter, our minds feel energized, refreshed and ready to celebrate. Does your body feel the same way?

Chances are, if you haven’t been working consistently on your fitness and fat-loss this winter, your answer is, “No! Get off my back!” In this case, you are probably in the same boat as most, your body may be struggling to keep up with your mind. It’s hard to make a new start when you feel sluggish and discouraged. We have all been there. The question is, what are you going to do about it?

That’s why I exist: to help you move from reality to your dream. If you have tried and failed at fat-loss, then you likely feel too paralyzed to try again. Motivating people to get healthy, however, is what I do best, as numerous clients can testify too (check it out yourself). But you have to let me help you! Let’s get started.

First, a quick look back

We are going to mainly dwell on what is ahead for you. Unless you can go back it time, the past is the past and it is best to leave it there. However, in order to make the best start, we need to take a look at what may have sabotaged your previous efforts to lose fat. From my experience there are three common issues that seem to derail most people on their fat-loss journey.

Common Issue #1: Impatience. Because we live in a society that is used to instant gratification, it can come as quite a shock to find that fitness doesn’t happen fast (crazy concept I know). I don’t care how many infomercials you watch that promise you a 6 pack in 6 weeks, it is not going to happen. There is no shortcut to fat-loss. If you grew frustrated in the past because results didn’t happen as fast as you would like, prepare yourself now for a different attitude: WE WILL celebrate small results and be patient as the transformation happens. If you aren’t in it for the long haul, don’t seek me out. I am about sustained fat-loss over a period of time, not fitness bingeing for 4 weeks followed by 12 weeks of a food bingeing. I want to transform mind-set towards fat-loss and training, as Rick says, “Mr. Lake has been my sons trainer for the past several years. He has totally transformed my son’s view toward fitness. My son wasn’t ever into working out until he began working with Mr. Lake. Mr. Lake is very encouraging but still tough and that is exactly what my son needed!” I helped change his mind set, I can do the same for you!

Common Issue #2: Lack of planning. The biggest sabotage in any fat-loss plan is lack of planning. If you have tried to lose fat in the past and failed, it is almost certain that you came up short in the area of planning. That is why the first thing new clients do with me, is sit down together and write a week’s worth of meals and snacks. I don’t care how hard you workout, if you are eating too much food (quantity) the workout won’t get you to where you want to be; and that is coming from a Personal Trainer, I get paid to help people workout. If your food is wrong, your workouts won’t matter. Yes, it’s that important, without forethought and intentionality, you cannot eat a healthy diet, get enough sleep each night and stick with a “Smart” workout PLAN, that leads to Fat-loss. In short, this time, you will plan before you start.

If you do, you will get similar results, like Becky, “I have been working out with Kellen Lake now for about 6 weeks. I have gained tons of muscle! I have dropped 2 clothing sizes! I feel stronger and healthier than I ever have! I will keep working with Kellen until I hit my fitness and health goals, and maybe even after! Common Issue #3: Support. If you have attempted to get fit with little support, you are not alone. Many people try to change their lifestyle on their own (because really, who wants to advertise it to the world, “Hey, I am overweight and I am going to try yet another “program”)? The trouble with this approach is that those around you will probably not value what you are doing. They will unintentionally or intentionally sabotage your efforts. For example, they may resent the time you take to workout, or they may ridicule you for the radical changes you make to your diet. However, you will have support this time, and the difference will shock you. As one of my long time clients says, “Mr. Lake (Kellen) is the greatest personal trainer! He is everything I needed and wanted in a trainer. I’ve talked to a lot of trainers and I’ve tried out a few and it never worked out because I gave up, so they gave up. Also, Mr. Lake does not give up. He has willpower and dedication that I don’t possess and I know he has that for all his clients. He cares and he’s there for the long road ahead. He loves helping people and that makes him very different he’s one of a kind. As a result, I have lost 40 pounds in 4 months!” I believe in you regardless of your self-talk and I will demand and get your best. In short, I will support you and be your biggest fan : ).

As of today you start fresh and leave the past behind. Yes, you may have quit during your previous attempts to lose fat. That doesn’t matter now. What matters is what you do today, tomorrow and next week.
