Kenna doesn’t want “Sugar” Just like you don’t want a lean trim body…

Just last weekend we celebrated my youngest, Kenna’s 3rd birthday.

And as you can imagine there was cake and ice cream and all the sugar a three-year-old could possibly want. But guess what, Kenna said she doesn’t “want” sugar…which is a flat out lie.

We all know that little children left to their own devices just absolutely love everything that sugar represents. Cookies, cotton candy, ice cream, and yes birthday cake. And yes, I was probably a terrible parent and I let her have a lot of birthday cake and ice cream. Even though she quote-unquote didn’t want it.

What about you?

Just like Kenna doesn’t want “sugar,” you don’t want a lean trim healthy body.

What I mean is your desire for a trim, lean, healthy body does not outweigh your desire for the foods you desire to eat and the lack of physical activity you get. Cognitively we have a desire, we want to be lean, trim, and fit. But from a practical standpoint, deep down you love sugar, comfort foods, watching Netflix, more than eating right, logging your food, and exercising.

So when push comes to shove, you don’t want to be lean, trim, and healthy as bad as you want those other mentioned items.

And I get it 110%.

I struggle to stay moderately skinny :-).

Cuz trust me, I love food! I was once 308 lb, and that fat kid still wants to come out and slam a lot of food. But when times like that occur, I habitually (not all the time, but most of the time) choose to refrain. Not because I don’t want to eat the food, but because I don’t want to have that body or feel the way that I did back in the day.

I remember getting tired just walking up and down stairs,  I remember looking at the mirror and hating what I saw. I remember feeling ashamed of going to the pool and taking off my shirt.

The long and the short of it is, there is an internal fight within you.

Your desire for food and the comforts of life have to be less than your desire to be lean and healthy. Once your desires change, your habits will change and your body will follow suit.

It’s simple….it’s just not easy. If you’d like my guidance and support you know where you can find me :-).
