Insulation, Sheetrock, and How to make a Homemade Detox Bath when you are feeling “sideways”…

Already peeps, this weekend was great but brutal. My dad and I installed the insulation, passed the insulation inspection (hurray!) and then sheetrocked the Private Personal Training Studio. It was two 12+ hour days and if you know anything about insulation and sheetrock…it is messy and nasty…fiberglass, dust, masks, aka…pain in the butt!

To say a hurt everywhere would be a huge understatement….so sore. That being said, it was totally worth it. Just You Fitness Winston-Salem, is that much closer to opening…assuming things stay on track, and we continue to pass inspections on the first go, we will open at the end of May! On a side note, if you sign-up by May 28, 2017 you will save up to 20% (That’s $900.00 dollars…fyi) all you have to do is schedule a free success session with me to see if you are a good fit.

Anyway, I client of mine shared an interesting article about hot baths. I won’t lie, I generally don’t take baths…ever. For me it is a time crunch thing, I feel like I am too busy to sit in a vat of hot water, which probably means I need to, especially after how filthy I was this weekend. With that said I am going to share what I learned.

In short, I learned that our bodies are champs at detoxifying naturally…(I sure hope so because I lived in a 500 square foot space that was filled with dust). Besides dust, there are also larger amounts of pollutants and chemicals floating around. As such, it can be really beneficial to give your body a little help from time to time.

How you might ask? One way is to take a good ol Homemade Detox Bath. Detox baths have been around for centuries (news to me) and are used for eliminating toxins, helping the body absorb minerals and nutrients, curing skin problems and easing sore muscles (Yes, please!).

What makes this even better is that they are easy to prepare and most of the ingredients can be found in your local grocery stores.

You will need: Epsom salt (2 cups), baking soda (1-2 cups), sea salt or Himalayan salt (1/4 cup), unprocessed Apple Cider Vinegar (1/4 cup), essential oils (any fragrance you like, 20 drops will do), ground ginger (optional, mainly because I don’t like ginger), skin brush and of course bathtub filled with hot water.

Warning: Make sure you are well hydrated before and during your detox bath because minerals in the bath will pull toxins out from your skin – and that can be very dehydrating. Just have a huge glass of water by your side as you simmer and drink it as you soak.

Bonus Tip: Before starting your bath, brush your skin, which will help shed dead layers of skin off, this will speed up your lymphatic system and smooth your skin.

A relaxing atmosphere can’t hurt, so get your favorite playlist ready.

And then the best part! Soak, relax, breath, calm your mind, and let your body take over from there.

Sound good to you!?

Your challenge this week is to take one homemade detox bath! Choose a day and time when you can spare 30-40 minutes or more to relax without rushing.
