I forgot my lunch and I had to improvise

Do you hate it when you forget something?

I  do! I try to be super organized and plan ahead and have everything laid out and prepared way in advance. Well, yesterday despite my best efforts I failed miserably. I forgot my lunch at the house.

I looked at my calendar the night before, I knew that I’d have to be prepared because my schedule was full in the morning. So, I packed my lunch, I put it in a shopping bag, I even remembered a bottle of water and I left it in the refrigerator. That way, when I woke up all I had to do was grab the bag and head out the door. It was THE perfect plan… Almost.

Unfortunately, even though I planned ahead, I looked at my calendar, I made the meals, it was all stacked away, I forgot to grab it. Kind of a bonehead move. As my grandfather would say, “If brains were dynamite I you wouldn’t have enough to blow your nose.”

Sometimes you have to improvise.

So, when I got to the school, where I coach strength and conditioning. I had to improvise because I was starving. I went into the concession stand and “purchased” (had to leave an IOU, didn’t have a dollar, don’t tell the Athletic Director : )  trail mix. Trail mix has nuts, some raisins, and yes it had some MM’’s, but for 270 calories  it’s hard to get a better bang for your buck at a school than that.

It would have been really easy to set a reminder on my phone. I could have just put snacks like jerky or something in the fridge at the school so I didn’t have to resort to such thievery and dire measures :-). Yes….I’m going to pay the dollar. But I didn’t have a dollar on me and trust me nobody wanted to see a child die because of the hunger pains I was under..

Do you have a plan? Do you have a routine and guidelines that makes it so that 90% of the time you’re successful? I hope you do. if not let me design an exercise program for you as well as provide you with guidelines regarding your nutrition.
