Flip-Flops – ARE BAD FOR YOU CHALLENGE…I knew it!
ME…NOT Surprised
I would love to say I am surprised by this revelation…but sadly I am not. I always knew there had to be a reason why I had such a dislike for flip-flops and I have finally found out why that is : ).
Were’s the thing. I get it, they can be comfortable, easy to put on, they are cool so your feet don’t sweat, blah, blah, etc…
The Research
BUT…there was study conducted at Auburn University. The researchers discovered that flip-flops changed the way people walked…and not in a good way either. To make it even worse, those changes wreaked havoc on the participants body. It affected the participants posture and gait.
OK, so I am being a drama queen and…yes, maybe I am being a little over the top and a touch sarcastic.
The Main Take Away
That being said, here’s the main take away for the study, flip-flops are ok…as long as you don’t wear them all the time. Which, I have zero problem with.
All that being said, these are a few ideas for you to consider.
- Change out your flip-flops every few months.
- Don’t be the guy or girl who hears Flip-flops when they go hiking. Flip-Flops don’t give you much protection.
- Make sure you get a pedicure or at least clean and take care of your feet. They are getting pounded by dirt, pollen, and the sun. Make sure you treat them right after all that abuse : )….this will probably be the only advise you all follow : )
- I wouldn’t know this unless I researched it, but you should wear leather flip-flops. I guess they last long and a little better for your feet…maybe becasue they are kind of like real shoes…just saying…
- This seems like common sense, but don’t wear flimsy and loose flip-flops, that equals zero support for your feet.
All that being said – your challenge this week is to act like an adult and not wear flip-flops.
If you are really a go getter get rid of any old and/or flimsy flip-flops you to have.
And…make sure you get a pedicure
