Client’s pants don’t fit right, good or bad thing?

The other day I was training a client and he was complaining about how he couldn’t find pants that fit right anymore.

I know…this is a great, awesome problem to have. The pants were too big in the waist, and to tight on his now muscular legs. What’s a guy to do? LOL.

Truth be told, I don’t know how you fix that problem. I just generally always wear shorts because I just DON”T like pants.

On a serious note, the same client asked me how they can localize fat loss so they can remove fat from a specific location. And here is the unfortunate truth about spot reduction and weight loss. It doesn’t exist :-(.

I know, I know, you hear it all the time in infomercials and even in some reputable, quote-unquote, health and fitness magazines. You can, “Do these seven moves to reduce your waistline,” or  “Do these five movements and get rid of your cellulite.”

These are just marketing tools to get you to read their information, to get you to buy their products.

The truth of the matter is, and there have been countless of studies done on this.

We can’t localize fat loss. We’re kind of like a camel. We tend to store our fat in a specific area, generally in our hips are butts our stomachs. Generally, the area where we genetically store the most fat, is the area that we want to quote on quote spot reduce. However, just like a camel when we start to lose weight, we lose it everywhere it seems but in the spots where we want it to go the most. I.E. in our hips, butts, and stomachs.

So what’s the secret to losing weight in those specific areas?

Exercise, eating right, and consistency!

Consistency is the biggest key, you have to have a plan to get from point A to point B and you have to stick to the plan…maybe with some slight adjustments, but you need to stick to the plan in the long-term to see those stubborn areas go away. Point in case, it took me 2 years to go from 308 to 220.  It took Dave, “The Half Sized Chef “ 6 lbs to lose 100 lbs. It took Jana, 8 months to lose 65 lbs. It doesn’t happen overnight despite what all of these infomercials say and allude to. To see the numbers consistently go down, you must consistently eat less and exercise.

Go be awesome!

PS – I am sorry, but it is the truth.
